Tjörn

Tjörn is a large island which lies north of Marsstrand.  It is surrounded by smaller islands and the open sea.  Three bridges built together creates a 5km long bridgeway which connects Tjörn to the mainland.  Driving over the bridge offers an amazing view of the arpichilago.  On Tjörn you can find Klädesholmen:  the hearth of the Herring industry.  The Nordiska Akvarell museum is a modern art museum for watercolour paintings which is worth a visit.  Pilane Sculpture valley can be found on Tjörn  (see Sculpture i Pilane, Art(ish) things).
The island of Hamneskär features the lighthouse Pater Noster (Paternoster is also a small fishing village in South Africa and attracted my attention immediately).
